The City of Savannah dates back to 1733, when General James Oglethorpe led 120 passengers off of the good ship "Anne" and onto the high bluffs, establishing the first city of the 13th and final British colony, Georgia. Nearly 300 years later, the city still lives by Oglethorpe's design.
The Studio Homes bring a new energy to old Savannah. As a part of the News Place on Ellis Square mixed use development, the new Studio building is a part of an overall renaissance of what was the Savannah Morning News operations and grounds.
In 2005, the newspaper moved, and its site was reclaimed for retail, hotel, and homes. The historic buildings were meticulously restored (oldest dating back to 1812), and the open spaces became the Avia Hotel and The Studio Homes.
